Damn repeticious check eng lights that are wrong How knock out??

Damn repeticious check eng lights that are wrong How knock out??
What is the least expensive way to knock out check engine lights that seem to pop up every week or so on my 03 996 Turbo. The car loves to throw out lots of error lights that are wrong.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Only 45K miles on car and it runs great.

Usually, the best way is to fix what is wrong with the car. What codes is the car throwing?

I wasn't clear. The codes are not correct. ABS and and check engine light for gas cap, ABS, PSM. All of which are ok. ABS is actually new. Sometimes they turn themselves out after a drive or two sometime not. It is driving me crazy but I understand many have a similar problem with the 996. Hence I thought I would buy something to kill the lights out myself without annoying my shop all the time.

Codes and MIL's do not appear without a reason, and usually do not respond well to having money thrown at them randomly. Several of the codes you mention appear randomly when there is a low voltage excursion on the electrical system which tricks the DME into throwing "ghost" codes. If the car was in my shop, I would start by monitoring the charging system voltages when the car codes, or taking a look at the voltage drop across the heavy cables running from the battery to ground and the starter system. The low voltage issue and the heavy cable voltage drop is a well known problem with the 996 cars, Porsche even released a TSB about. I'm surprised your shop was not aware of it.

Hmmm. Interesting JFP. I just printed this off and will show it to my shop. I was on the brink of buying a enthusiast model but may try this first. Thanks

Also tell him (or her) that Porsche has also released updated battery cable part numbers specifically to address this issue.
