I improperly stored my 911. Dead battery. Not the average kind though...
Alright, first thing first. I'm an idiot. Now that is out of the way, here is what I'm dealing with...
I live in Minnesota. I am a college student. I have no garage. I put it in storage. I did not put a battery tender on... So I have searched and I know that you can open the frunk by using the fuse panel and the door striker to introduce a charge. Here is my problem. I left the car unlocked, but I can not open either doors. The windows do not come down so that they are past the 'seal' for the windows. Is there a way to charge the battery by attaching a jump pack to other points on the chassis? I have briefly seen information about somehow opening the engine compartment, but they are not detailed. Josh-You are not an idiot-this has happened to a lot of owners! First-try rubbing glycerine or dish detergent on the window seals, then warming them with a hair dryer and forcing the door open gently. Or-you can try the fender emergency cable procedure on the thread by BigBob below.

There is an emergency engine lid cable between the bottom of the left tail light and the bumper.
If you gently wedge a soft scraper, like your mom used to clean the icing bowl before she let you lick the bowl, a little way in between the light and bumper you can snake the engine release cable out with a thin metal wire hook. Then use the + junction and the air cleaner bolt to charge the battery.

Thank you for the information guys! I was not looking forward to taking the wheel off and fender liner and going at the frunk release. I will look at getting the engine compartment open using the spatula method.

I was able to get into the engine compartment by using the technique posted above. Going through the space below the light and above the bumper was accessible using a light to see and a coat hanger to actually grab the loop made the process work.
My battery is finished though, so I will be replacing it anyway. I very much appreciate the assistance! DC Josh |
