The passenger window on my 99 996 cab does not lower enough to clear the soft top weather striping. It does lower slightly when the door handle is pulled open. Other than that the window works fine. Do I need to replace the regulator? Make an adjustment? Thanks

Yes, this is a very common problem with these. I struggled with the same issue on my car, trying to adjust it, etc. In the end, the regulator was just worn out / sloppy from years of use, and a new one fixed the problem. See this article here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/77-BODY-Window_Regulator/77-BODY-Window_Regulator.htm

Hey Wayne, I have a 996 Cab that the window doesn't drop and or raise the 12mm on the passenger side as it does on the driver's side. Other than this condition the regulator works fine. Have you ever heard of a fix for that?

Hi, I have a strange variation on this problem. My passenger window sometimes wont go down, and sometimes it starts to go up and down, all the time!

Meaning it goes down 1/2", then up, then down, then up, you get the idea....

This happens when I close the door completely. It only stops either when I lift the door handle or when the door is open.

I just tried to leave it going up and down and thought it would stop eventually. After 15 minutes it was still doing the same thing.

Anyone who have an idea of what can be wrong?

Thanks,

Johan

There is a a way to make the regulator adjustable. If you go to the 986 forum and search for permanent fix for window regulator you will fins it there. Also for the people whose window goes down when the handle is pulled but up when released you probably have a bad micro switch in the door latch mechanism. Unfortunately you can,t replace the switch and you must replace the whole mechanism which is a costly $200 part.
