PCA rule question regarding SC's
Does anyone out there know the definitive answer on what sized rims you can run on a 911SC for PCA club racing?
At my last club race I saw a number of guys in my class (G) running 9" rims on the rear. My understanding of the rules is that the largest you can go is 8"...I have seen and heard both. Anyone claim to know the answer??? Being able to stuff 255s in thr rear seems to be a nice edge. I currently have 2 sets of 7x8 and 7x9. I am trying to figure out which sets I can use and which ones I need to ditch. Thanks.

The club racing rule book says :
for stock classes:1 inch wider than originally supplied with the car. for prepaired classes: 2 inches wider than originally supplied with the car. I assume the cars your looking at are not running as a prepaired car? brant |

The cars I saw were not running prepared as they were SCs in G. I guess the issue revolves around the interpretation of what was available for tire sizes between 1978 and 1983. I have heard some insist you could get turbo wheels on an SC so therefore you can put 9's on the rear.
From what I can tell the largest offered for SCs were 6 and 7's.....To be honest I think that the largest I can put on are 7 and 8's, but I 'll take whatever edge I can get. Brant, would you concur with the 7's and 8's?

78 targa,
I'm hesitant to give you the wrong answer.. I really don't know for sure. I think eligibility is going to go by the factory options documentation. I know my old SC only had 6's and 7's on it... but I've always heard that 7's and 8's were available... if that is true (and I'd ask around for proof) then you should be able to run the 8's and 9's and only be the 1inch over as per rules... I'd ask the main 911 list, or rennlist racing to verify though.. I don't want to give false info. brant |
