April 12th at Willow Springs

How they used to do it:

And how we do it nowadays:

Apparently enrollment is low, but the organizers will not be canceling this event. That's good news for anyone with an appetite for lots of track time. I'm planning on debuting the repainted BB2 there -- with lots of paint protection.

The current forecast calls for what I call 'speed weather' -- 69 crisp, horsepower-loving degrees, and clear.

Anyone else coming? The link in my signature will take you to the organizer's site, if you want to sign up.

Hey Jack - might be off topic but was that B/W picture really Big Willow? It looks like turn 4/5 going CCW

It's turn 3, the hard left, right before coming up the hill to the omega (4).

They used to let spectators on the track, and the pits were in the infield (across from their current location).

In this picture, you can see from turn 3 all the way back to the front straight and turn 9:

Oh, O.K. I see it now, thanks for sharing the pictures, I have always been intrigued with b/w pictures from the past, even more so to any location that I have been to.

In the background of that first picture it looks like there are several cars taking a shortcut through the infield.

Great photo.

That is not the Infield. That is the pit area near turn 1 wear the bleachers are now. The main road in the back ground is the entrance to the track, not the racing surface.

great photos Jack

I wish I were going to Shanghai, but I'll be in Minneapolis instead.

I'm still hoping/planning to do the 4/22-23 POC TT.

We are still running on Wednesday at Willow. Forecast shows a sunny 72 degree day. Is anyone planning on joining us? We have plenty of space in all run groups.

Unfortunately, as I figured, I'm gonna be in Roseville, MN instead of Rosamond, CA !!! Have fun and stay safe, guys.

I'm going to be bringing a fresh-from-the-paint-shop BB2 with me. Kevin finished it this morning.
