Paul Mumford
Last week motor racing lost one of the nicest people out there. Paul Mumford died in a plane crash in Southern California.
More info on the World Challenge web site: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/03press244.html I always ran into him at race tracks and he always had time to talk. He was also a competitor in OTC. He will be missed. |

It's really terrible news. I'd met Paul at both of the OTCs, and like a lot of club racer types, I'd been following his entry into the pro racing ranks. He was a real inspiration and a really nice, genuine guy.
He was only 31 years old, and Saturday was his birthday. His death is a major loss for everyone who ever met him.

Bringing this back up, a couple years ago, a bunch of friends of Paul raised $6000 to put up a plaque in his memory at Laguna Seca. It was part of their "buy a brick" fundraiser a few years ago, and was supposed to be on the path to the Corkscrew somewhere, I think it was to go on a pedistal of some sort.
I haven't been to Laguna Seca since before the MotoGP construction, but I know some people that were just there for the Rolex race and nobody can find it. Has anyone seen it? Tom |

The plaque was finished, but as of last summer it still hadn't been installed. I don't know the status, as of this year.
