Thanks for posting that- that's me driving my friend's car in the top pic. You're driving the black carrera targa in the 2nd to bottom? Need to say hi next event...

So is that you spinning your friends car?! LOL, I think I have a sequence of it if you want it.

Yeah I am in the bottom black targa, say hi next event for sure. What is the next event anyway?

Yea, if you've got a sequence that'd be great. I was tuning the car for him (just put on some new shocks) and it was a real handful out on that course- I spun it 3 times, vs spinning my car once in a dozen events! It's pretty quick- G-50 and VRam- it will be good when he gets it dialed in a little better.

Looks like the next GGR event is the 21st at bay meadows.
What's your name, btw?

Well the new car isn't quite ready yet- it's off at paint as we speak. Sold the last one a month and a half ago- hoping the new one is ready soon enough for me to hold onto my zone 7 PAX lead. We'll see- should be a month and a half before the 912 is out for a shakedown run. Have you been out running recently?

Great news, was wondering what happened to you. I've been on the track lately, running with HOD and TrackMasters.

Terry has owned that car fresh from the lot in 1969. The motor has never been touched, 350K miles, and he's a regular TTOD holder with the PCA GGR. A true testament to the longevity of these automobiles.

I think the motor has been "touched" a few times, Mat. (I think he had recently done his third rebuild when he drove to Fort Worth for Parade '04?)

The car's name is Marcel, the owner is Terry Zaccone. He has driven it to just about every Parade in the past twenty years...

I remember an eventful AX at the Oak Colliseum that Terry attended many years ago. Back in those days, we would sometimes see Dwight Mitchell too... you Bay area folks know who he is.... right? Anyway, Terry was there as he usually attends an AX or 2 right before Parade as a tune up. We were workin' the course during one of his runs and Terry hit a braking zone and the right front wheel kept on going. Spindle had broken. I cannot remember how he got home...

I wonder how many class wins he is up to by now at parade?

What happended to the GGR AX School?

Hi Mike,

We lost our July 7th and 8th dates for the 2 day Zone AX school when Candlestick scheduled the parking lot for a repave during July. They plan on having it down for about 6 weeks (all of July) to work on it.

Currently we are looking at different sites and may have some free dates in October at Bay Meadows to run the school. We are deciding what to do.

I'd say if I was betting man that we will not hold a Zone 7 AX school this year.

Thanks,

Bill P.

I remember that day, Mike. We couldn't figure out why Terry didn't make the turn, then we saw the wheel go boing, boing, boing.... I have pics of the fender somewhere at home.

IIRC, one of the people who tow their car gave Marcel a "lift". It took a couple of jacks to get Marcel up onto the trailer, too!

After having some email correspondence with Terry a few months ago about the PCRs, I had the pleasure of meeting him in person yesterday at the 2007 Parade autocross, where I believe he won the P05 class once more (although results were not official when I left).

I believe he said that this was the 33rd Parade that he has driven Marcel to in the 39 years he has had the car. The article in Excellence about it in the August, 2006, issue, said that he ordered it for European delivery, and the factory stored it for 3 months so that it could be shipped and imported as a used car. It was delivered to San Francisco on Jan. 6th, 1968, and has been in continuous, enthusiastic use ever since. Quite an interesting guy, and an amazing car....

sorry about the loss of the school date, but the paving is great news.
