19/26 T-bars in an early car...???

Anybody run 19/26 t-bars in an early car? Would like to hear how it handles (street, ax, etc).

Thanks,

I know this doesn't answer your specific question but I would consider 21/27. Great street/track compromise. I run this set-up on my SC and love it. This is combined with Bilstein sports on all four corners. I think Chuck from Elephant recommends a sport/HD combination with 21/27.

This set-up is a great compromise but as I progress on the track, I wish my set-up was a little stiffer.

21/26 is what i am looking for but have located a set of 19/26's and am giving that some thought. i read somewhere here (i think) that some folks recommend against bumping the front bar size regardless of rears.

for ax i think 19/26 might be right decent but i'm afraid of ending up with a car that is on a knife edge in fast sweepers. i realize leaving an on ramp (er, i mean track) backwards at 100mph would make for a good story but i'm not really looking for material right now

berettafan,

I run 19/26 on my 71 and it has been a great compromise. I also run an adjustable front sway bar up to 21mm and a fixed 19mm rear bar. Lowered to Euro specs. Optima battery in the smugglers box. 205/60/15 tires on 15X7's for the street on all 4 corners, track days see 205/50 RA'1s on all 4. Car with a 1/2 tank is 2150lbs. Some weight removal has been done. TRE did the CB and camber settings.
Car handles great for me. I can run Big Willow (long fast track) and feel very solid in turn 8 at 115-118mph or more. I can take the same set up to Streets (short lots of turns and technical track) and never experience any push. Car is very neutral. Car sees about 8-10 track DE's a year with about 8k in street miles.
Hope that helps. In car videos can be found on various posts by me in this section.

And 100mph + is not so bad going backwards in turn 9 at WSIR, just bring an extra pair of boxers!

Dan thanks for that input. Sounds like you're maybe 300lbs lighter than me which is fairly significant. If anything i think this points towards looking at a stiffer setup for my car. Have located possible 21/27's and also possible 22/28's so we'll see what happens there.

I used to run 18.8/26 on my RS-style car. Relative to a track car, it's still a pretty soft setup (although the perception of these things are relative, I know).

I ended up switching to 21/30 before I, uh, drove that car into a concrete wall.

I went even stiffer (350/600# springs) with the next car.

26mm is about 35% stiffer than the stock 24.1mm's. This will make the rear rotate faster and the front bite better.

Might work on auto cross but I do not know if I would try it on a narrow body with same size tires ft & rr on the track but I would check with the experts.
