Nitto NT-01 Pressures

Going to the track tomorrow. This year I switched from 16" RA1s to 17" NT-01s (235/40 and 255/40)
I tried a search and didn't find any info on what people have been running for pressues. My car is 2900# carrera.

Any insite on what people like for hot pressures with these tires?

Thanks!

My '86 is down to 2508 lbs with a lot of suspension work. I run the same size NT-01's on mine. I settled on 33/31 cold. Yes, that's higher pressure front than rear. Running on Jeff Alton 17" Fuchs. 23/33 torsion bars, Tarett sways, custom valved Bilsteins, etc. The hot pressures ended up at 38-39 hot. I tried more air pressure rear and didn't feel right. Another local friend (also a PCA instructor) that I chase around runs the same pressures in his '87 Carrera.

Hope that helps.

Thanks ED! Interesting tire pressures. I'll give it a try. Lots of suspension work as well but using 22/30 Tbars.

Is 2508 with driver weight and no gas? I'm down to 2715 without driver weight with almost 3/4 tank of gass. I'm about out of places to take weight out. Are you using fiberglass panels?

2508 is the car with a half tank of fuel, no driver weight. Yellowbird replica bumpers, all 'glass rear tail/ lid, no heat or a/c, Sparco seats replacing the heavy power seats.

At 2250lbs I did not like them after they got above 36-37psi hot. I was getting even temps at about 35 hot.

I can't remember where I started cold and both days had minimal down time (300 mile track days) so they were not cooling off much for the short time i was in teh paddock.

Cheers

I ran at Street of Willow this past weekend i ran the NT-01 at 36-38 hot and they held really well, even with the track temps at around 98 degrees. Car is around 2900lbs i guess, 22-28 T bars, 23 adustables front/back, Bilstein sports all around with 225/275's, i really like the Nittos, i'll stay with them for a while.

Hey Ed - I ended up running in the 36-38 range....I think. By the time I got to the pits to check, the tires were all about 35.
My first session the pressures got over 40 and the tires were really bad. For my car, I'm going to try and keep them in the 36-37 range.

I really like the tires out of the box. They are better than full tread RA1s out of the box and the wear was pretty good. I did about 200 miles and they still look pretty good. Hopefully they'll go 4 or 5 track days.

Thanks for all of the input. It really helped to get a good range so I didn't spend all day on pressures.

That's where I usually ended up hot- in the 38 lb range all around coming off and having someone check at pit-in. PITA to get out of the harness, around the roll bar stuff, get the HANS and helmet off and check it myself.

FWIW, I've run 5 full days on these tires, though 2 of them were on a very cold and slippery track. And on one of those days I did 4 30 min run groups and a 45 min group, all in the instructor red run group so definitely pushing it. The tires never got greasy, and I have enough tire left to at least another 6 days or more. I think they'll heat cycle away before they wear out.

I run mine at the same pressures as the RA1s.

According to what I've been told, they're the same rubber compound, just less tread depth, a different tread pattern and stiffer sidewalls.

I just ran mine again today.

Track temps were 100ish, I was running 35-36 front and 37-38 rear (hot). They felt really good. Even temps across the entire tread....\

Cheers
