If Porsche would commit to bringing in a few dozen of these cars, then I'd bet you'd see them bought and racing in the major series'.

![]() that car is pretty sweet! I just can't imagine dropping $400K by the time you get it into your garage and not having a series to run it in. My car is roughly the same weight with a full tank of gas (about 20-30 lbs lighter) with just a bit more HP and I bet that car would easily have 6 seconds a lap on me. I almost broke into a 1:57 lap at the local track here a couple weeks back (HPR) with a 1:58.18 best and the Cup cars that have ran out there run 1:53-55s typically, one guy did a 1:52 but rumor is it is a World Challenge championship car claiming to be a Cup car. Nonetheless, roughly 4 seconds faster on average, so I would think that car might be 51s or 50s. Hard to say but knowing that a fully sorted and prep'd WC car is doing 52s... And they just look so great.

Last year at the 48 Hours of Sebring there was an '03 RSR running with all the Cup Cars. The standard Cups were generally running 2:10's to 2:14's. The RSR, which was running a 4.0 Manthey engine and had an extensive resume of races over in Europe was putting down 2:06's pretty regularly. The difference between a run of the mill cup and one of these new R's is pretty substantial. I bet at HPR one of them would turn really close to 1:49's with the right driver.
Is it worth the extra $150K over buying a brand new 2011 Cup Car and not having a series to campaign it? Not for me it wouldn't be. I'd buy a Cayman R daily driver with the extra money. ![]()

Wow, that is crazy. I was going to guess 1:49 to be honest, but just couldn't bring myself to admit that hahaha
![]() At a 1:58 the average speed is 78 mph To get to a 1:55 (and still get beat by 6 seconds apparently) = 80 mph, so +2 mph essentially everywhere on the track 1:49 = 84 mph. That is +6mph everywhere on the track (essentially every corner at 6 more mph and then the straights arbitrarily gaining 6 mph from that as acceleration is pretty much the same rate) to get there from where I am now. If I even had the $$ to kid about buying one of these cars, I might have to consider the extra $150K to actually be able to run a :49 in a full fender car ![]() Is this the car you are talking about? Yep, that's the car. Here it is on KMW's homepage:
KMW Motorsports According to Kevin the car has been all over. It was Alex Job's in 2003 and then after he was done with it it went to Manthey. Now it's back in the states.
