Aother Reason Why 911's are Great for the Track
So, today I am getting ready for a DE and I decide that taking my street tires may be good back up plan in case my R888's don't last the day.
Since I do not have a trailer, I decide to try to put them inthe car. I put them in my bags and what do you know, I got three of them behind the seats and one where my spare normally lives. I was able to load all my other stuff in the remaining space. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Aren't street legal race cars great?

What size are your tires? Just curious because most of the time the full size tire doesn't want to fit in the spare location w/out losing some air.
I too would stuff my tires in the car. I'd put two laying down on the rear folded seats and the other two would ride shotgun with the seat removed.

Hi Kevin:
The tires in my car are 205/55-16's on 6x16 fuchs. There are three behind the seat. You are correct that the full size tire does not fit in the spare tire well (sadly the 1/2 year only 1973.5 CIS fuel tank that DOES accept a full size spare was replaced by a PO with a later model) but I can still safely close the trunk lid. You may want to see if you can get all 4 in without pulling your seat.

I was using 16x8/9 with 225/245 tires. So my tire collection was a good bit fatter than yours. Still, I managed just fine with the two in the rear and the two in the vacant passenger seat area. Believe me, I tried all sorts of arrangements short of using the Thule roof rack many guys use. I'd always get laughs from the group for how amazing it was that I could stuff so much much crap in my car for a track day.
Those days are over. The '87 has been retired to the garage and the '79 gets pulled behind a Chevy Suburban. Much more room to pack gear now. Still can't break the habit of bringing the kitchen sink to the track though! ![]()
