Hoosier A6 Question

I'm considering mounting up some A6s on 15" wheels, which would mean 225/45/15s all the way around. Looking at the specs, namely the load ratings... wondering how this will work (but also thinking that the load ratings could be way off due to the way tests are done and not really suited to compeition tires).

So, anyone out there running this setup (car is slightly lightened 3.2L Carrera... probably around 2650# or so)?

I've had great results with this setup, but my car weighs 2k. Why not run the 275's on the back of your heavier car - are you lacking the 9's to mount them?

225/45 work fine all around (certainly in AX, likely too for track). Seems the current "hot" set up is a 275/35-15 as mentioned, but you would likely need a 9" or 9-10" wide wheel.

hopefully you have some supension adjustment (ie, sways) to fine tune and under/oversteer concerns due to the square footprint.

Thanks for the feedback... indeed, running 7s and 8s here. Will give them a go and see how it works.

Why not 245 rear? I dont think load rating is an issue either way...

I'd love to go 245s. Hoosier offers quite a few different sizes in the R6, but with the A6 it's just the 225/45 or 275/35. After this set I should be moving over to some 16s, and will be doing the 245s in back then.

I have run 225/45/15 A6s square on 15X7" for a while and it is fun but not ideal, some day I will buy some 15X9" wheels and switch to the 275 rear. Since you have the space (I don't...yet) I would put as much spacer on the back as you can. The gain in rear track width should compensate for the lack of stagger some what.

The 245/45 16's don't gain you much over the 225/45 15's - 9.2 vs 9.0 tread width. The real deal is the 275/35 15's - 10. 1 tread, and only 23" tall, to match the 225/45 15's. A whole inch lower + shorter gears = more fun.
