ChumpCar - Rd Atlanta

I think we about beat the CCWS AMP thread to death, so I started a new one.

We have entered the Supra in the 1st CCWS race of the 2015 season, at Rd Atlanta. My co-driver at AMP did a great job of recruiting 7 new drivers, all experienced PCA DE drivers and instructors, but I'm not sure if any of them have much race experience.

I'm going to pull the motor this month and get a complete rebuild. While that's happening, I'll refresh the brakes and suspension, and see if I can find a way to get a few more pounds off the fat girl.

I've driven Rd Atlanta many times in DEs, but always in daylight. According to my calculations, the last 3.5 hours should be in the dark, so I will probably let the younger guys have those stints.

cashman has signed up to drive with us; I'm not sure if any of the others post here.

If Rd Atlanta goes well, we will try to do Daytona, Sebring, and VIR, and maybe the night races at Charlotte. I don't think we want to go back to AMP with this car. Barber would be nice, but in August?

I'm excited. About 20 DE track days in a 89, 911. I'm sure the Supra and race conditions will be a whole new adventure.

I took the Supra over to friends garage today, Aardvark Performance. He will pull the engine this week and I will get it to Carolina Machine Engines for a complete rebuild. Hope to get it back in the car within a month.

I wanted a Supra or Conquest when we formed our team. I was out voted.

Probably for the best.

If I had it to do over, I would just go with an E30 or E36.
