Will 964 roll bar mounts fit a 1988 car?
Question on this, can a 964 DAS rollbar be made to fit in a 1988 car? I thought the cars interiors were basically identical? I don't mind doing some minor welding...
The reason I ask, is that I can get a 964 rollbar essentially for free... Any reason why this wouldn't work? Thank you... |

You need to measure. I once tried to fit a 993 roll bar into my '71. Guess what? The 993 was almost 2" wider at the B pillar.

I hear you. For some reason I thought that the 964 and 911 shells were identical? I know they changed the motors, suspension, steering, etc...

Nevermind....you sat in one once and now you think you know the answer...so go ahead, get the DAS 964 rollbar.
I wonder why that make specifically for '74 to '89 coupes too?

If you can get it for free (or cheap), get it and try it out. You can always sell it pretty quickly if it doesn't work. Probably at a tidy profit too.
Not really sure why Winders is so bent out of shape by your question. Too much caffeine maybe??

Jay,
Because people just don't use their heads. Why would DAS make 2 different products for the two different models if they could use the same bar???? And why come here and ask a question if you all you are going to do is challenge the answer. This person should just call DAS and ask them. How hard can it be????

Thanks guys. I know the items are different for a 964 and a 930. The roll bar looks identical on their site, but the forward mounts look different. I understand some light modification may be required, hence the question...
I did call das, and of course they said they were different. No comment on whether it could be made to fit... Turns out to be a moot point, seller changed his mind. Bo |
