Help me spend 40 -50,00 for daily driver

Hi,
I have decided not to lease a new car and want to find a nice pre owned daily driver. My 74 is taking too long to finish - I underestimated my time with two kids under two. I have between 40,000- 50, 000 to spend and I live in Baltimore Maryland. Thanks

A 2002 BMW 330 might not be a bad daily driver

Seriously, you should be able to find a nice 993 for 30-50K...

I'd buy a 993 then.
Maybe look for a C4

I presume you guy s prefer the 993 to the 996?

Because you can pick up a nice used 996 in Calif. for $40K

I never thought I would say it, but I'd go with a used 996. I'm thinking of buying one as a daily driver for my self.

Locally one popped up for 45K for sale by orig. owner. It is a 2000 with only 9K miles on it. Loaded with options including tiptronic, crests in head rests, painted center console and more. He'd probably take 43K. For 43K I'd take that over a bmw.

Just my 2 cents.

I would look for 87-89 911 , allot less in price and less problems with electrical issues.

You would also have allot of room for upgrades , that;s allot of fun too.

I have heard 996 and 986 might have wire harness issue's so beware.
I have no proof but some mechanics are starting to see issue with cars that are 3 years old.

just a thought and a concern on the new porsches.

First off.. I'd spend another $10k ($60k) and get a 993tt which is 10x the car of a regular 993... if you can dig up the extra cash.

Nothing like a twin turbo wide body.

The second choice would be either a 993C4S or a 996 (non turbo)... both of which you can have in the $40k-$50k price range.

Thanks everyone for your help, There is a big off lease auction in PA that I am going to next week. It looks like a lot of 00-01 996's going in the 40 range. I would prefer a 993 but It looks like I can get a great car for a daily driver and build my 74 to more of a fun weekend & track car.

Jascha,
your email on the PM would not go through, could be my office network filters. Please email me if you get a chance and I will reply.
