1987 Porsche 930
A True Sports Car
1987 Porsche 930 (911 Turbo). Beautiful Casis Red (rare, special-order color) with Linen interior. Planning a move to Europe and it would be too expensive to ship the car. A real driver‘s car: No Power Steering, No Power Brakes, No Cruise Control, No Hydraulic Clutch, No ABS, No Traction Control, No Stability Management, No “Sport Mode.” Just you and the tires and the road. The car has been slightly modified for better driveability. The stock 930s are famous for their extreme turbo lag and insufficient low-end horsepower and torque, both of which lead to lugging in city driving, the inability to use fourth gear at speeds under the highway speed limit, and a violent burst of speed when the turbo kicks-in (not that great for exiting turns). This car has been modified to smoothly deliver more horsepower and more torque over a broader rpm range with minimum turbo lag. Stock and after rebuild dyno tests (to the rear wheels): Stock: 273 hp, 295 ft-lbs of torque. After rebuild: 309 hp, 328 ft-lbs of torque. Email me for dyno charts. Current mileage is approximately 134,539 and the engine was rebuilt at approximately 88,000 miles. The rebuild included: Lightweight flywheel; GHL Exhaust (headers and muffler); KKK K27-7200 Turbo; and a one-bar waste-gate spring. Bridgestone Potenza tires in good condition and recent service: Bilstein sport struts and shocks (8,500 miles ago); front and rear brake rotors and PBR Ceramic pads (6,400 miles); oil change, oil filter, and new sparkplug wires (1,000 miles); 15,000 mile service (6,400 miles); four wheel alignment (5,000 miles); factory rebuilt Bosch alternator (50 miles). Just professionally polished to approximately 85% of original luster. Used as daily driver and driven on “spirited” club drives and a few times on the track. Blaupunkt “Miami Beach” radio/cd player with upgraded speakers, Bazooka subwoofer, and an iPod connection; cloth car cover (covers top and windows); three black bras (one “Genuine Porsche”); floor jack adapter; and four older tires, worn down to the wear marks (excellent for the track). Clean Carfax (email me for a copy). $29,000 obo.
