1983 911sc Coupe -Original Paint to Sample

THE CAR IS SOLD TO A FELLOW PELICAN AND LONG TIME PCA MEMBER

Hello Fellow Pelican's.

I am posting this for a long time friend of the family, he has asked me directly to help network, provide technical knowledge and assist in managing the sale process for his 1983 911sc Sunroof Coupe. He has decided to let the car go to someone who will use and enjoy it more frequently than he. He's recently retired and wants to spend his time on other ventures.

EDIT: Upon receipt of much interest and some unanswered questions, I set an appointment with the seller to review all records he had for the car and the car itself. We spent the afternoon today going through the car. He learned a lot about something he's owned for 15 years!

Overall:
The car is in fantastic original condition, I'd put it as a very good to exceptional driver.
He is the 3rd owner, purchased July 10th 2000, Prior owner purchased in June '89 with 69k on it from the original owner
It's a US, Non-California car, this car was ordered in and has always resided in the state of CT delivered without smog pump and related hardware
118k miles(est): Purchased car with 111k, pushed in Odo and stripped the gear
Mileage correction, Odometer broke at 111k, car was purchased at 102,101.
Car has never been raced
Prior owner had a very nice original color,to match paint code 669-9-3, respray done on the car in '95. At that time, added the only non-original piece to the vehicle, a Porsche OEM tea-tray spoiler.
COLOR HELP!? Code 669-9-3
Black interior, in very good shape, dash-top is in excellent condition, sunroof functions properlySee photo of stained headliner. It's condition took me by surprise today when I had better light and more time to examine
Original 6"/7" Fuchs
Original Blaupunkt Radio remains
Car has been regularly maintained at Auto Associates in Canton CT (Owner is friends with Jim Newton)
The car presents as rust free
I've had numerous questions about the car being rust free when there is some surface rust (heat exchangers) pictured. To be clear, there is no structural rust anywhere on the vehicle.

Driving Impressions:
The door close, presents the sound of originality (ask if you don't know what I'm referring to)
Body gaps are consistent and correct, underside of tub looks very good, no jack marks or scrapes
Cold and warm starts without incident
I experienced no smoke on start-up
Oil consumption is "minimal" to "very little"
The car pulls strong
Shifts as a well cared for 915 should
Shift bushings have been replaced
Clutch installed shortly before current owner, likely less than 25k on it
Valve train and engine are quiet and smooth
Pop-off Valve installed
Turbo valve covers

Stops hard and straight
Tracks perfectly, there's no wandering and the steering is on point
Within the last 3000miles the car has received a full tune-up (cap/rotor/wires/plugs, CIS pressure test and all deficiencies addressed, new air filter, CIS tune
Brakes have been replaced within the last 10k

Things to consider:
Tires are old and feel hard, should be replaced despite remaining tread
Windshield has a sizable rock chip, it's been there 12 years
There are a few rock chips on leading edge of the front bumper and a couple on the flag mirrors. Nothing that couldn't be touched up to look great
Original color tag (metal tag inside driver's door jamb) was removed during resprayBased on new info with the Paint to Sample tag, I don't think it was removed, likely it never resided there
Minor oil seepage from driver side cam-chain cover gasket and large oil tank S-hose After putting the car on a jack the S-Hose is not the source of the leak, despite it having oil on it. The lines to and from the external t-stat are seeping at the crimps (where rubber meets the metal)
Original steering wheel, small patch on the wheel top (closest to windshield) is dried
Driver seat, lower bolster stitching has dried out and started to come undone but not noticeable unless searched for
See photo of headliner, quite disappointing

Seller is serious as he doesn't want the car to go another season without being enjoyed.

Car is located in Northwest CT, owner is a 13 year member of the PCA

Firm at $28.500. Car will be listed elsewhere at $30k

Sean 203.910.4242 or PM me

The seller is looking to make a deal with an enthusiast, dealers, flippers, and unclear stories will not be tolerated. It's a fantastic car that deserves and enthusiast who will enjoy it for years to come.

New Photos from today's go through

Battery clamp has surface rust but that's it.

Paint to sample, still working to figure out the exact color. Owner was sure it's Quartz Gray Metallic and upon discovery of this, that's been thrown out the window after 15 years.

Strong, clean, rust free pan without damage from bottoming or jacking aside from the bent tow hook

Very clean frunk...this was the second time the owner saw the spare tire.

Up-close on the failing stitching

Dried steering wheel top. Owner has another stock SC wheel with extended hub in excellent condition to be included (on display in his house currently)

The ugliest part of the entire car...the sunroof leaked before being fixed and caused staining on the headliner...

The only mark on all 4 wheels

The first photos I took of the car were rushed, these are a much better representation of this 911s presence
