Passenger side air bag
My 2008 Cayenne S is giving me and the repair shop a lot of frustration. The air bag warning light is on. The repair facility was convinced that it is due to a faulty passenger side air bag. They talked me into replacing it and the light was cleared. It came back on a day later. Now they say it is the connector causing the light to come on. The connector is not available as a stand alone part, only as part of the wiring harness. were talking $ xx,xxx. Probably close to what the car is worth. Any suggestions?

The dealer had a shot at this last year and replaced the pins in the connector. Lasted until their repair warranty expired and then re-appeared. I stopped by the independent repair shop today and after a month they had done nothing about finding a connector. They apologized and told me they would start calling salvage yards. I have no idea what the connector looks like. At my age I don't trust myself to do the things I used to not give a second thought about. i.e. Installed CU layer LED lights in my 356 and couldn't get the brake light on one side to work. I chased the wiring harness connections and found zero voltage, the next day the thought struck me. You need to have the brake pedal depressed in order for the brake light to work!!!!!!! Old age would be very depressing if it weren't for some of these amusing things.

Do a search for Cayenne airbag warning light on google you will find this is a common issue and fixable by soldering the connection together.
This might help also https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne-macan-forum/529043-side-airbag-fault-warning.html

Here is an update as to what is going on with the air bag warning light. Nothing! This is an intermittent problem starting in Mar, 2015. Both the dealership and an independent garage have been unable to fix it. The garage has scoured the salvage yards and has ordered the part four times. In all cases it was the wrong part. I'm uncomfortable with this. There is something broken in their process. I went back to the dealership yesterday and set up an appointment with them to take another look at it. The service advisor told me that they fix faulty connectors with a pig tail. I speculate that means they put a jumper wire across the bad connector basically hard wiring it. Then why didn't they do that 3 1/2 years ago? OH! silly me $$$$$$$

OK, this should be the last post on this. The air bag warning light is now off and the car appears to be fixed. It went back to the dealership so they could take another whack at it. Nine days later they called and told me they ordered a new wiring harness. The diagnosis was the connector that the other repair facility was still trying to source. The good news in this is that because of all the downtime and ineffective repairs, Porsche was going to pick up the whole tab, and they did, indeed do that. The whole friggin tab on a 10 year old car! Got it back just in time for the first snowfall of the season.
