2004 cayenne S Oil Sensor replacement - 3.5 hour labor charge

Hello all,

My oil Level warning message appeared and oil temp gauge wasn't showing a reading. Had problem solved at dealer - bad oil level sensor.

I was in the garage when mechanic showed me the new sensor and the spot where it went in the block… seemed like an easy 2 or 3 hex bolt job. I left the car and returned at end of day.

Shocked to find 3.5 hour labor charge !

They justified cost by saying… we had to remove the undercarriage to get to one of the bolts.

Is this true ?

Could someone shed some light on this please ?

P.S. during my internet search , I found this comment on a repair site : You have two sensors that could cause the light to go on. The oil pressure sensor and oil level sensor. Both are easily replaced by someone relatively OK with cars (DIY).
