04 cayenne radio issues

Radio screen went dim, now doesn’t work at all. Unit doesn’t “wakeboard” when turning ignition on. Checked power is good, the CAN lines are live. Fiber optic lights up. Fuse on back of radio is fine. Accepts CD but won’t eject. What’s going on. What to do?

My ‘05 Cayenne would have all sorts of weird things happen when the battery was going bad. By chance is your battery old?

I had similar radio issues with my 7 year old battery, worth while to check it out.

No, I’ve changed it at least 3 times.
The first thing is the screen was getting dimmer and dimmer until you could hardly see it but the radio still worked, however I could only control volume from the steering wheel. Eventually, nothing worked

Ugh. Hopefully that’s not the unit going out. Is it the double din radio?

If it were me I would consider swapping out the head unit to one with Apple play. If you are going to spend the money to repair you might as well get an upgrade with Bluetooth.

Check the power and ground(s)

Maybe jumper both and see if things go back to normal.
