How long are you getting from your rear hatch struts?

Ok I’ll admit it. I’m a little disappointed. I replaced my OEM rear hatch struts in February 2017 with a pair of Stabilus brand rear hatch struts purchased from our host.

It hasn’t been 5 years and the damn things need replacement again.

1) How long are you guys getting from your rear hatch struts?
2) Is there a brand you recommend so I won’t have to do this again in 5 years?

Below is a thread I participated in during the install process of 2/2017

I replaced mine in early 2015. So far, no problems. I think I used the Stabilus ones.

Definitely more than 5 years on my last set. - Which I hate to say because now they will likely fail.

Yup, mine are failing again at 5-years. It’s on the list of to do’s now. Gotta change all struts as well, just did the motor mounts.

I ended up buying the Stabilus hatch struts and the Porsche OEM window struts from our host. . . hopefully it will be more than 5 years when I need to replace them next time.

EDIT: January 10, 2022

Just finished replacing my rear window and hatch struts. Not the most difficult Porsche DIY projects out there. The worst part is removing the rear trim pieces. They never seem to go back the same as they were originally. Let’s hope the struts last longer than 5 years this time.

Time will tell.
