Always hot or DME relay switched power for engine fan control power?

As part of troubleshooting the dreaded P0480/P0481 codes in a 2004 Cayenne S, I noticed that the wiring system diagrams aren't consistent, in that the cooling fan section shows the control voltage that's fused through fuse 10 in the e-box as always being hot (a red conductor), but the power distribution sheets show it as being fed hot-in-run-and-start (red with white tracer). Pulling apart the e-box shows that it's the latter, which has me wondering if there was a change to unswiched power in later 955 models, as it would make a certain amount of sense, in that the ECU could run the fans after shutdown without having to close the DME relay.

Anyone have any insight into this one?
