Red face 1966 911 NO START-Help!

Completely stock, 22k original miles. Car gradually started running poorly, hesitating, down on power. Points were mildly pitted, so concluded needed points, condensor, timing, etc. 3 years since last tuneup by the shop. Driven < 1000 miles per year. Replaced points, started ok, but dwell off. Attempt to set dwell not successful (too low). Took out dist, checked, cleaned oiled. Had 9.0 volts to coil, but no volts to distributor. Concluded coil is bad. New Brazil coil, still no volts to distributor. Is new coil bad out of the box? Volts ok in, why no volts out? Any help? I'm used to tuning my 1971 2002. Can somebody help me get this bloody thing started so I can at least drive it to the shop?! New to the board. Thanks all.
