Same here with my '04. The cruise stopped working, but it was a surprisingly cheap easy fix (brake switch).

Replaced the battery (what a pain in the butt and I had to drive 2 hours to get the right one).

Now one of my cornering lights is out (H3). I guess that will wait for the weekend.

Looks like the front brake pads will need replacing soon. Any of you guys do that yet? Painful?

Tested the car yesterday and found it beautiful. Maintained at a Porsche dealer for 6.5 years but at 88K miles I found out that the coolant pipes HAVE not been changed... thus I asked the dealer to do the change if I buy the car.... will see

Make absolutely sure the coolant pipes were updated. Trust but verify.
I did mine and it was expensive and took me 9 hours. Not pleasant.
Auto atlanta sold me the kit cheap for $550. dealer wanted like $900.

When you guys start to have electrical glitches, look into your battery condition.
I used to disconnect and reconnect and little annoyances would go away.

I would also be sure that the P.O. changed the oil frequently and not every 10k miles due to ethanol blended fuels. 7k miles is the max i would go btwn changes. Porsche techs warn of ethanol washing out the cylinder walls leading to premature wear. Techs have also told me Cayennes are very well built and reliable with no real issues except coolant pipes which were made by a supplier outside Germany. The plastic degrades, (world car manufacture issue)

Take your time and get one with a sunroof, the sunroof is nice in a Cayenne, they made enough to get the perfect Cayenne S.

Good Luck,

Replacing the battery was two weeks ago when the computer would lose the convenience settings overnight. Meaning that my settings for the way the doors unlock, and the horn for alarm would all default. New battery and all is well!

Good Luck,

The Cayenne am looking has been mainained all its life at a Porsche ONLY dealer. I negociated with the dealer to include the pipes with install... he agreed verbally. might be a Cayenne owner tomorrow ( BTW plse excuse my question but what does P!G mean?????)

yaya97 10-12-2012 04:31 PM

talk about crazy... I agreed with the selling dealer to purchase the Cayenne and he was to do the pipe change...then I was reading this morning the carfax and wondered why the car was maintained at 2 differerent Porsche dealers.... I already called the first one who said the pipes were not changed so I said heck, I will call the second porsche dealer.... The service guy was super nice and when I gave him the VIN he said oh "it had a coolant leak at 59000 miles so we replaced the entire system with alloy parts"......so I called back the seller dealer and deducted the 800 for the pipe job ( we had agreed on the this price). You would think that Porsche would have a common database between dealers!

No sunroof isn't a bad thing. Ours still has the headliner out because of constant leak issues that we're waiting to verify are finally fixed we hope. Noticed this time when we took the whole assembly out that there was a mismatched bolt, so this has been a problem since even before we bought it.

While cruising at 65 ... 22.8 mpg!! Crazy . I love this car!
