first generation Cayenne: Beware of rust spots!

I was reading on some forum that some 2004-2005 Cayennes has rust spots on the bottom of doors due to a welding issue at the factory. I was not worried about the 2004 Cayenne I just bought as it was dealer maintained and I really looked all over the place for rust. But on the website one owner did say to really look close at the paint on the bottom o the doors... so I did a 20 minute inspection and on the bottom of the rear passanger door where welds are, the paint was a bit....wavy but almost not visible. I pushed with a small screwdriver and... a 6 inch by 1 inch chunk of paint with surface rush fell off. I calmly took some sandpaper and sanded off the rust (again this was only surface) . The i put a few coats of derusto paint just to protect the metal (yes same color as the car) until I find a body shop that can do it right. Rest of the car seems spotless but I do recommend to have a close look at the bottom of all 4 doors.

Well I am having the car inspected by Porsche today. I know they will say its just wear and tear and its very light BUT I will argue that there was no wear to the inside of the door! I think I have a 10% chance to win but its worth a shot.

Of course as the car has had a repaint ( for whatever reason )the corrosion warranty is not valid! I expected nothing less! I will just have it done by a body shop

Yes according to the dealer any repaint just ... washes off the anti rust coating... It's total BS .
