2006 Cayenne S Headlight Fault
Hi everyone,
I'd like to know if anyone else has had the check headlight warning message on their Cayenne's and if so what are my options to check. The fault is mostly seen at night when behind another vehicle I see my drivers side headlight moving up/down too much searching to find it's level point or something to that effect. Thanks for your time and comments.

Push it in harder, they like to come loose.
If that's not it, pull it out, run some string around the flexible plastic bracket that holds the plug, push it back in and use the string to get it tight, then pull the string back out.

I just paid a dealership to figure these issues out on my 2004. I had replaced the wiring connectors and pried them into place behind the lights with a long screwdriver but they still wiggled loose enough to disable one turn signal and cause sporadic high beam warnings. The dealership replaced the base plates that the lights sit on/mount to. That has improved things, although we still get a low beam warning sometimes. I haven't had a chance to push the light physically or try the string trick. But if you have long-lasting headaches with the lights, consider replacing the base plates (yourself--had I known they were a wear part I would not have paid so much to the dealership to learn about them).

The easiest and cheapest thing to try:
Remove headlight, remove the white connector, in which the head light plugs in, from the support. Pull it out and plug it in the head light, and test if all works. If that solves the issue, just cut of the taps that hold that white connector, see below item 23, in place and plug in to the headlight before push it back in. Make sure to clean the the pins and the plug with some electrical cleaner. ![]() This solved the problem with the headlight and also the turning signal. I had the headlight issue left at first and did as described above, and when I had the turning signal issue, a week ago at the right side I did the same thing at the right side. Hope this helps. Cheers Engelbert
