Cayenne off road?

I'm looking at picking up a 2004 Cayenne S AWD and I have always been curious as to the off road capabilities of the Cayenne. I have heard that they are one of the best SUVs off road but how does it compare to a 4-door Wrangler? I know stock the Wrangler is great and I have witnessed it in person. I know the Cayenne has variable ride height and some fancy off road setting but no one seems to use them for what they are built for so I don't have a lot to go off of. Any information would be great. Thanks

I used my Cayenne on a hunting trip in Northern California, only because my blazer broke down. It handled the off road and hills, rivers very well, sadly I scratched up my black paint but a buff job fixed that.

I have the Cayenne S so I was able to lock up my differentials, it had very good traction but this is also dependent upon tires. Plenty of power for sure, I got lots of stares by people in their jeeps and FJ40's asking me which route I took to get to the top. My response, "the same route they came up". It was lots of fun and I'd do it a gain, this year I'm using my Cayenne to pull my 56 Jeep Willy on the same hunting trip. However, the Cayenne will stay at the camp site. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on doing a wrap the the vehicle to protect the paint and put all-terrains on it. but other than that it seems like its very capable. I'd get a Jeep or truck but I'd like to stay with Porsche. Plus the 04 Cayenne S is the same price as a good Jeep.
