915 transmission will not go into any gear
My 83 911 sc won't shift into any gear. I changed the clutch cable and helper spring. Checked the shift coupler. When I try to go into reverse it grinds. Any suggestions are welcome.

IF there is no excessive play from; cable, sifter, or the rear coupler play you may have a frailer [bending] of the release bearing fork. It does happen. If so the clutch release system will feel Rubber band like.

What happens if you try to put the car in reverse, depress the clutch and then start it? This will tell you if your clutch has a problem...if the car tries to move when you hit the starter, you've got clutch issues, if the car doesn't, it's likely in the gearbox.
