2008 Cayenne S Engine Failure

Is there anywhere to report or that we should be reporting Cayenne S engine failures? My father has an 08, started ticking, scored cylinder towards the outside of the engine, same as everyone else's. It was diagnosed by dealer a few months ago - they said it wasn't common which is a load of **** as there was another Cayenne S in the shop for the same thing. I was just down the street from the dealer the other day and there is another one up for auction with a "very mild tick when cold". Just over 100 000 KM on ours, appears it was dealer maintained by first owner in Toronto, never run low on oil in the 20 000 KM's my fathers had it.

40K for a new engine from dealer, won't sell a short block, etc etc.

Very frustrating to watch him go through this as he's an air cooled 911 guy and used to being able to buy parts.

Edit - this is a Canadian vehicle, spent it's life in Toronto and Nova Scotia.

You may want to speak with LN Engineering about sending the Cayenne there. I know they've built a few big bore Cayennes, and they seem to have the resources to fix cylinder walls in the sports car engines. I bet they'd be happy to build you something reliable, and fast!

Cylinder Scoring

Take a look at this scoring. This is from an S engine that had only 62K miles on it. I had bought it to replace my ticking 04 engine with 150K miles. So now I am 0 for 2 on S engines. Don't tell me it's not an issue. I am very disappointed with Porsche and I've owned Porsches since 1976.
