2011 Cayenne Base - tail light out when brake applied
Need some help please - 2011 Cayenne base v6 - my drivers rear tail light goes out when I apply the brakes. If I turn off the car or unplug/replug the light it works until i press the brake pedal again.
Any ideas? Ground? Where do I look? Thanks!

I believe 2011 uses a non-serviceable LED light, most likely the light itself is faulty.
You can try swapping it with the other side to verify if it's in the light. I know you can't drive it like that but at least you'll know if it's the light or wiring. |

Thanks jrbennett - I did try the pass rear tail light as well as another new (used) and working driver tail light - same result. Cuts off when brake applied, blinker still works though and will work again if you turn off car and restart.
Gotta be wiring or a module of some kind - hoping someone has a direction of where to start looking. Thanks!

Ok - after doing a ton of research I think it could possibly be the rear control module, part number 958-618-279-00 - now, who knows where this baby is located? I believe rear hatch area on the passenger side but hope someone has some better knowledge or pics.
Also, anyone take apart the interior in the back hatch area? side walls? have any guidance on how to do this without breaking a ton of tabs? Thanks, Rob

Well not the control module either - I actually purchased another bad light! Sent that back and got a new one from the dealer and BAM! now I have working lights again! You nailed it jrbennett - bad light.
