2006 Cayenne Turbo S

I am looking at a 2006 Cayenne Turbo S for purchase...The current owner says it drives but hesitates it will drive but not drive far before shutting off???

I guess my main question is how much of a headache is it to bring it back or is this something I should forget about it and run the opposite direction???

It's less than 5K for local pickup...Is this something worth grabbing up?

Those are great cars, but whether or not it is fixable is hard to say form what little we know. Might need an engine or just a coil pack. If an engine, that is more than the car is worth and you will probably sell for parts.

Sounds like a fuel pump dying.

My first thought as well. Puling the fuse for the primary kept me from not getting home a couple of times before I fixed my fuel pump. The 2006 S was the higher HP version. This could be a good truck. As my 2004 TT gets more and more miles, I would jump on the right relatively low mileage turbo.

So! I ended up not buying the Turbo version...It had too many problems for my baby budget to start with...I found a nice 06 "S" model that just needs some TLC for now. Thanks all for helping me make an educated purchase on this thing.

Great looking vehicle.

I don't fix anything on mine that isn't broken. It is smart and will generally tell you (with codes/check engine) when it is. Typical issues are fuel pumps, coolant leaks, coil packs and the driveshaft bearing carrier. It is heavy and will need tires fairly often and brakes if you are not gentle on them (but a sensor will tell you when the brakes are worn). Change the oil.

So...Just yesterday after work...the check engine light came on??? Uh Oh? Right! I've had the car for two days! Boy my luck...Lol! So, I went into Advance used their checker to see the codes and P2189 came up...According to the reader it is running too lean??? and it said if I had drivability issues to stop driving it??? The problem is the car drives fine??? I actually drove it from New Port Richey FL to Lakeland FL about 70 miles on Sunday then back and forth to work these last two days...The car drives fine but the light is on??? So far I filled the tank and added two 16oz bottles of seafoam in it since the light came on...I have not done anything else but that...I think I should drop it off at my local mechanic who works on my 944 to see what he thinks of it and if I should keep it or just give it back to the place where I brought it from??? Ugh!!!

It does not sound horrible...but nothing is cheap to fix on these. Sometimes it takes a while to find a leak/problem...so troubleshooting time adds up. It sound like you have a leak (air) somewhere and are running lean because of it. Seafoam will not help. You need to find the leak. Check intakes/hoses/MAF to see if they are light/in good repair.

If you just googled up the fault, you need to be more specific and add "cayenne" to your search...as these cars are often a bit unique.

You may be able to get the seller to fix, but they probably just cleared the fault to sell it to you (and knew about it)...so, I doubt it. A decent P-car wrench should be able to fix and reset the fault.

Yep! That was my first thought that they cleared the code for it to sell they did not anticipate me driving it 70miles back home giving the computer enough time to re-diagnose itself and coming up with the fault again...I already knew because of the nature of the beast I would be fixing it...I called them today and went over this with them he says that they serviced the serpentine belt and changed the alternator to it and never saw the engine light come on...I doubt this but giving them the benefit of the doubt...I will have it looked at by my guy and see what's going on with it...hopefully you all are right and it not much to fix and maybe it is minor...it is always possible a hose could of came loose or has a crack causing to run lean...thanks again for the feedback and suggestions.

I would guess that they did not seal a hose correctly when they put it back together. It doesn't take much of a leak.

I had a leak a few years back before I started working on mine much. It took my independent wrench several hours of labor to find it. Sometimes air leaks are tricky.

2006 is probably too old for that. My 2004 does not have USB or blue tooth (despite being fully optioned).

I don't. Just listen to the radio or a CD.
