The 01X box is now fully installed with axles, and shifter connected. YAY 6 SPEED and super low crusing revs

Sorry havent posted much for a while working crazy hours for work and i started on my spring tune ups for customers 944, 968s etc. on #2, now and about 5 in line to do.

car still runnign and driving but is parked until i can dial in some final adjustments and than take it for an allignment, i have my intake plumbing done up just have to actually install it and extend the wiring harness for the MAF. leaks are all fixed Thankfully got tired of seeing some wet spots.

and all the needed parts for final work has arrived, new rebuilt torque tube is awaiting install. new TOB, new custom Intermediate bearing and race ready. new Heavier duty clutch. wiring for speedo is awaiting install aswell.

news to come !

Fun update after countless hours of trying to diagnose my non functional speedometer I have a very accurate Speedo! In the vw cluster!

I utilized the 968 abs run Speedo signal. I however rewired it so the rear wheel runs the Speedo and not the front. Also much easier to work and calibrate while the cars on the lift.

Hazah!!

Also steering is pretty much dialed it. Just want to try and loft the back to balance it out. Than she should be golden.

Cheers.

A new update, so ive put about 900km on this thing this summer and had 2 breakdowns minimal problems but what else is a project but trial and error !

I swapped in a wizard Radiator yesterday, the diesel really likes to run 90 degrees even, where as most other motors alternate and run a little hotter, i was seeing some higher temps on really hot days closer to 97' even. so swapped in a bigger rad and fixed my cooling fan resistor pack.

my highway cruising at about 120km/h hits the tach at about 2300rpm in 6th gear.

in theory i think i should be able to hit my goal of 1500km/tank roughly 5l/100km but ill have to drive like a sain person... 28psi of pretty instant boost is quite addictive,

ill update some more later in the fall !

New shocks installed @

Catch can drained..
First oil change done.
Fixed boost leak also.
Might have to put in my stronger clutch.. it doesn't like 5th & 6th gear pulls under 2500rpm hehe woops...

Drives like a toy @

Slowly.and surely will.work.on rigging functional AC. And have teeter tattered on idea t9mput back power steering. Since it's for regular driving snf I have to park it in our work lot everyday.. it is a workout.. especially at.5am..

2500km down !!,

so a sad temporary update...

before heading to 944fest the tandem pump went out, overnighted one from kerma. got it in, drove to 944fest in ohio!
made it there!

tracked it... blew up the clutch. swapped the clutch on the grounds, pinched some wiring, fixed wiring..

70 miles into return drive. the motor went...
a lot of variables but likely need a head rebuild.

engine is currently out to be fixed but too much going on currently to open it up and see what went wrong.

will update when shes back vroom vroom down the road !

Hello. I put my track car on a 924 V.A.G this summer. 1.8L on. Familiar solutions were visible. I have also previously installed a 1.9tdi on a Phaeton. The 944 2.0TDI is also planned next. Strength and endurance to you.

Do you think the 28lbs of boost might have something to do with the engine failure?

I've got a Malone 1.5 tune on my Passat B5.5 wagon (2.0 tdi) and I'm on my third clutch, but it seems to be holding well. The engine runs sweet. If I want to drive at 60 mph I can get ~1100 km/tank. But who wants to drive at 60 mph?
Good luck,
hughc
