PDK into a 911E
ive had a SBChev in my 911E and on the road for over 20 years with a 915 trans. I was thinking of changing to Auto. Would anyone know if it is possible to fit a PDK trans into the body,i figger the torque tube would need to be cut and coil overs fitted, would it so much longer that the floor would need cutting as well ? Assume the PDK would need an ecu, but would that also have to talk to a engine ecu or not.The pdk is rated at around 700 hp, even more with some upgrades, hopefully someone may know or may have done the conversion, over here in Australia not many think outside the box.

!. The PDK transmission is replacement part and Porsche does not provide any parts, nor tech support for this transmission. PDK is replaced for about 20000$ USD. No clutch pack replacement neither
2. You need special equipment and tools to just change the trans fluid. PDK Clutch Pack Replacement https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/1172826-guide-to-repairing-a-pdk-transmission.html |

thanks for your extensive research and knowledge on the PDK, i think after reading all the info you posted i may have to look elsewhere. There is a manufacture in Australia that builds manual trans as a replacement that will handle alot more load, but dont think they do a PDK copy, thx again

The PDK is pretty great requiring little or no maintenance for 100k miles but they don't come cheap. Anything could be done if you throw enough money at it but getting all of the electronics and communication right so it performs seamlessly would be the challenge. Mating it to the car and V8 would be a pretty straightforward fabrication exercise. Figure roughly $30k all in.

You might look into a Subaru auto trans. Check with Subarugears (they're also in Oz), last I heard, they were working on a auto ring&pinion.
I know the standard Subaru trans works just great behind an LS, and is significantly stronger and better in every possible way than a Porsche 915. |

After clicking on "Click Here To Upload Photos", (the blue box in bottom left)
a window will open saying "Drop files Here or Click to Upload", click on that and it takes you to your files where you can chose pictures and post, ![]() |

Thanks,
Yan2947 has a nice V8 engine and transmission setup with modified final gear for sale. May be like, 996 trans Yan2947 I have a 383 stroker with a 915 tranny that was modified and has really tall gears from Calif Motor Sport. I am willing to sell because I came across a 930 tranny that I had shortened and plan on doing a ls7. The 383 has approx 450 hp and is complete with everything and exhaust/turn key to put in a car that excepts the 915. It came out of an 80sc... $9723 in tranny work alone from CSM. Will sell the whole setup with motor/tranny. Just needs a car and I have an 80 slant nose if you are looking... |

What about finding a PDK and all it’s ancillaries from a wrecked car. Surely they must have these in some salvage yards?
