912 SWB swap to 2.2T engine

			Hi,

I'd like to swap 2.2t 125HP into my 912 SWB from 1966. Can I ask for some help on below topics?: - what transmission should I use for it? If its different from original then is there any issue in dimensions (SWB being shorter than LWB older 911s)? - any ideas where can I buy engine mounts for it? - maybe some similar swap guide somewhere online? Couldn't find. Thanks in advance for support and answers

I’m assuming that is the early 911 2.2L engine you want to swap in. When I did my conversion I cut out old 911 mounts from a junkyard. You can use the 912 trans which is the older 901 version. But, let me say this. If that is the only engine you have then that’s ok, however, you will break even in that it’s 25-30 hp more than a 912 or 914 engine. You get a little more torque but sacrifice hp for weight. To attempt to install any 915 trans is not a direct bolt in. You would need to change the torque tube, not fun. Now, you could fabricate your own 911 mounts. You need an oil tank. What I did was install the engine to the trans and bolted it in the chassis, then with the 911 crossbar I used that whole assembly as a jig to accurately install and weld the mounts in. Your two hurdles are, installing an oil tank and fabing motor mount brackets, not too hard. A 912 chassis is a 911 chassis when it went down the assembly lines then one got an oil tank and different motor mount brackets.

I’m putting a 3.2 in my 67-912. I’m using a 915 and it just took a bit of clearance in the rear seat tunnel. I would use a 911 trans for any mag cased engine. Didn’t have to touch the torque tube. Purchased 911 engine mounts from restoration Design. Made a template for the oil tank and welded it in. The conversion had been done to death. Just Google it to get build threads if you want pics of my oil tank install, pm me your email or phone. Mark
