Anyone stuff a 911 engine into a VW bus?

Just curious about this. Someday I might by a Vanagon and fit it for 2-person travel and camping. I wonder if a 911 engine could be made to fit and how painful ($$$) this would be. Thanks for indulging me.

its been done, but it would be much more cost efective to swap in a big type 4 or subaru engine.

Jim, there are a couple guys here in So Cal that do this and sell conversion parts. I know that swapping in golf engines is another less expensive alternative especially for the watercooled vanagons. Try Martin Schneider at MSDS he knows and is involved with these guys. Michael

The golf engine is another nice swap from what I understand. I just swapped a 2.0L ABA into my jetta, and if there's enough room this would be a great engine for a van swap. tonnes of low down torque where you need it.

I've also seen (pictures) a subaru six swap, looked very clean and was very sporty to drive.
