H2O power in a type3.
well I picked up my '65 squareback today, its only for parts ( came with my very restorable '63)
as I was hauling it home, I got to thinking. I'm planning on putting a porsche 914 engine in it, but have been tossing around ideas for other interesting powerplants. heres a couple Subaru power, I understand that subaru makes a liquid cooled flat four that will fit most aircooled VW platforms, they apparently put out quite a bit of power too. coupled to a 901 or 915 tranny would make for a hot combo. VW H20, I was thinking a 1.8 from a earlier Golf GTI, jetta or sirroco might make for a reliable motor with plenty of pep, plus there's plenty of performance mods that a guy could do if he wanted. Mazda Rotary, light weight and plenty of power, I don't know much about these engines but I understand that it is possible to do. What else is there? Id be interested to hear. I want to stick with German power, so the subaru and mazda Ideas arent going to happen, But I'm interested in hearing what options are out there VB |

I'm currently installing a GTI motor into my SuperBeetle (that's where the "H2O SB" comes from. It's not nearly as difficult as you might think, but there are several factors to consider and I don't type that fast. If you'd like more info, send me and EM.

I have a friend that has a square back with a 914 2L & Porsche 5 speed in it. Fast car. His name is Ian. He usually posts on the 911 forum of Pelican. I believe he has a posting now about is 5 speed on there now. EM him for specifics.
