Post 912 - Need Power

My friend bought a Karmann Ghia with a 2109 engine in it, hooked up to a Scat short shifter, and he let me drive it today. Man, what a rocketship. It comes on cam at around 3 grand and doesn't let up. I then get in my mild 68 912 (Webers and Bursch exhaust) and I may as well have been in my sister's SUV. I am thinking about building a 2109 engine for my 912, and am wondering what everyone thinks about this. I think it is a direct bolt in, I'm not sure how it hooks up to a 901 tranny, but I know it'll work. Considering I do much of the work myself, what will building an engine like this cost, how much power will it make, and how long will it last?
