AMB hardwired transponder install (914)

This question is 914-focused but also just a general topic for all track cars I guess.

I need to re-install my hardwired AMB ASAP i.e. this weekend. I previously had it attached to the front of the car in the foglight location and using the factory foglight wiring for power, but that location is no longer compliant with POC rules, where it cannot be more than 8" in front of the front axle line.

Seems like putting it in a fenderwell or other exposed spot is asking for trouble - getting blasted with dirt and gravel constantly.

I'd like to avoid having to run a long power wire if possible so what are my options? I'm thinking somewhere under the stock battery/hellhole area might work well?

Any tips or pics appreciated, as always.

Cheers,
