Backdated Subaru Swapped Targa Rat Project
 
I have been a long time lurker on this forum with great admiration for the level expertise exhibited in project cars here. So I have had a long term project 1977 911 targa that is in the process of getting backdated and a subaru swap. Transmission is a 3-speed sportomatic with adapter plate and custom torque converter. Engine is an high mileage EG33 flat 6 with some crudely made carb intakes with a pair of DGES 38mm synchronous carbs. Hope to have it on the road this summer and possibly in the paint booth this fall.

Wow, that's a very interesting swap you have there! I never get tired of seeing the ingenuity our members have with motor swaps. Looking forward to seeing updates on your build, please keep us updated!

Bloody hell, that is positively Mad Max. Welcome to the board. Wild project. Search the archives. The worlds first EG33 911 swap was documented here about ten years ago. It’s a very detailed thread.

Well, as great as the EG33 EFI is, the length of the OEM wiring only reaches the rear seat area. I struggled with a nice way to clean up the install and I still wanted to have my kids ride in the rear seats. So I said what the hell and started making carb manifolds on the cheap.

Coolant lines
 
I have been asked how I did the cooling system, the short of it is that I am still fabricating the coolant system. I emulated the work done by Peter Sullivan and his EJ25 conversion of his 912. The coolant lines are wire-reinforced marine grad hose ran through the heater channels and then into the frunk. I am using a very thick but short radiator instead the typical large radiator tilted.
