The previous owner, who originally imported this car, popped up and verified the spoiler, fenders, air ducts, rockers etc. He confirmed that these items were consistent with the car as he imported it in 1985. He claimed to have old pics although I don’t know if he shared them with the seller.

Also, someone found a picture sales ad in AutoWeek during that same time period showing this actual car. Looked the same back then as it does today. It’s really crazy what things can be found on a car during a 7 day auction.

Does this confirm that the two fins, nine louvers, etc were special wishes work was done at Werks 1? I guess not. But it does show that this car’s current bodywork was consistent to how it was in 1985. Personally, I think there’s a good chance that this car is authentic but Porsche records don’t verify every single unique feature on this car.

Serious question, I’d like to hear your thoughts after that whipsaw auction.
The car is real but as the most recent comment above stated, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. My bid amount reflects the unanswered questions. I have been talking with the current owner for years but we are just too far apart on price to make a deal. The federalization sticker really threw me for a loop as I thought it was a Porsche sticker. Not too familiar with ‘82s.
