Issues with Canadian history of 997??
Hi All,
Built and owned a few long hoods over the years but have decided to move to a 997C2. I found a car in WA and sent a deposit yesterday contingent upon a PPI for full payment. The seller had stated 'No Carfax issues' in the posting video which initially I was Ok with. Today I decided to run my own report anyway and he is correct that it is a good 40K miles car with no accidents.. the issue is that all history up to a few months ago is in BC, Canada and it seems this dealer imported the car. (The 200mph Odometer is in miles.) Shoudl I be concerned? Will this lower the value? I read about issues with 'warranty', dealer support - any real world experience? Will I have any issues titling in NC? Intend to ask the dealer tomorrow but some information going in to that conversation would be welcome! Many thanks, Sam ![]()

I see no reason to be concerned. The more anything makes you nervous the more thorough the PPI should be.

What 997 is still under warranty? It’s over a decade old. A 997 is a used car and the dealer will service it if they have the parts. I personally would never service a 997 at the dealer. An Indy is who you have work on that car.

Thanks both.
Correct - obviously not worried about "warranty" per se but was interested if the CAN history would complicate any interaction with a dealer if it was ever needed (E.g. had read issues getting recalls executed, ordering spare keys etc...). I agree an IND is the way to go (for what I don't do myself) Mostly was concerned if the CAN history should be factored in the price if it would result in a lower price should I need to resell (When I benchmarked the car on price I looked at all recent sales, not just gray market cars)

JettandTye - exactly 25.5% or did you round the second decimal place?

Icbc is the primary insurer here in bc, just order a report based on the Vin and see what comes back. |

I have a great independent shop for most work on my 997. But I still end up needing the dealer now and then. AirBag and TPS issues could not be figured out at Salerno’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
