Value of a disassembled 3.2?

Ok,

I have a complete 3.2 engine with the exception of a few minor bits on the intake available that I could sell.

When I got the engine I was unsure of the condition so I tore it down.

Inside looked fantastic. It must have been a low milage car.

So the dilema I face now is how to sell it?

do I rebuild it and sell the engine as a whole? or do I sell it as is?

I have several engine projects in the works and don't really need it right now.

I would think the value would be pretty good since you can see the internals and know the condition of the parts...

What kind of value should I put on it?

If you can assure the buyer you have kept track of the parts and where they go, I would think around 5000 less one day labor and a gasket set to reassemble. The key is that you know which rocker went where and which bearing, etc. I emphasize "without a doubt."

Sounds like a good oportunity for someone. I'd buy it if I had a car to put it in. ;)

Thanks.

That was about in-line with what I was thinking of listing it at. Bummer in a way because I was floored by the excellent condition of the heads. I cleaned one up and found that virgin-type condition as a racer you are always trying to get.

So a used, unknown 3.2 goes for $5500 and a very clean disassembled one goes for about $1000 less.

I'll need to think about this some more. I could use the crank in another project, but don't need anything else.

So if I parted it out, what about these prices?

Case: $1200
Crank: $1500
Intake: $600
Heads: $800
Cams: $400
P/C: $600
rods: $200
cam towers & tensioners: $200
oil pump: $300
Misc stuff: $400

That puts the parts at $6200. hmm. where was I too high? Even a conservative number would be $5000 for good, clean parts.

Yeah, I wish I had a car for this to go in too. Too many engines!
