3.0L long block value
 

I wanted to hear from you guys what you thought a 3.0L long block was worth? Say it has everything except CIS, and a distibutor. The exhaust has been backdated, but is rusty and probably in need of replacement. It also has carrera pressure fed tensioners. The engine is out of a 1980 911Sc, the odometer shows 75,000 miles. I was thinking it would be worth somewhere around 3500 to 3700. The alternator, fan, fanhousing, engine shrowd, and tin are still on the engine.

Do you think I would be better off selling it in parts? Does anyone have rough estimates for values of 3.0L engine parts.

i recently flogged off a 3.2 in parts

for an engine and 915 tranny with everything on it, i could barely make 3500 euro's, that's including injection and everything


in parts it broke up like this
case 500
crank 500
915 with cooler 1250
motronic 230 ( it was untested)
heatexchangers , 300
muffler (DP11) 250
hydraulic tensioners and chain housings 300



not sold yet
P&C's with visible honing (car had been unused for 10 years)
good heads
cams and cam towers
shroud
injectors
intake runners
alternator ( we kept that for our selves)
fan


CIS injection parts maybe worth a tad less, dunno
but i'de still sell the bugger in parts rather than in 1 piece
people can visually verify the condition of the parts rather then buy one package with unknown inner parts...

The engine I have is complete with webers and electromotive crank fire ignition, but every buyer I have heard from wants to go CIS. So I was just thinking I can easily take the Crank-fire and webers off and sell those parts seperately.

I know the engine was rebuilt 10 years ago, but I do not know what type of headstuds were used. Is there a way to check the headstud type without taking the heads off? I know none of them are currently broken. The headstud nuts look like the original barrel 10mm hex nuts that are typical in this spot, but beyond that I can't think of any way to know what they are for certain. I've removed the valve covers and none of the headstuds are broken.

Also it does have the updated chain tensioners.

Some of the engine tin is missing in the picture, but I have all of it.

euro's yes , but i don't think the exchange rate applies in such things...but the correlation between parts value and engine value just might, dunno


most folks want to go with CIS?? that's just crazy unless they are in Cali with smog rules and all...

yes the carbs are worth money too, no problem there
