74 911S Coupe

Hello all. I haven't decided if I want to sell yet, however, I'm trying to get a general idea for an asking price should that day come soon. I haven't seen but a handful for sale in the last couple of years, so data points are almost nonexistant. It's a nice car, drives great. I have a few older receipts and have most receipts of what I've bought for it.

Car is a '74 911S sunroof Coupe. Silver with Lobster Red interior/black dash and caps. ~105K

Engine rebuilt about 3K ago. Appropriate stud work done (BTW no issues with case or studs at time of rebuild). Heads done by JW. Ceramic coated early-style HE's, M&K 2-in-1 muffler. SC cams. CIS. Just sounds fantastic.

Transmission rebuilt by JW about 5K ago.

Newer paint (it's OK). All new window seals. Seats recovered. Dash recovered in german vinyl. New headliner. H-4's. 6" flat Fuchs refinished by Al Reed. New Verdesteins (sp?). Alloy calipers, 20mm/18mm front/rear sways. Koni reds.

Only rust was a small spot on passenger side under the door seal. About the size of a dime.

There's more little stuff but I wanted to keep this question brief. Thanks,

$8-$12k for a nice driver level car, more if exceptional, less if it has needs

Sounds like a very nice mid year. All the expensive stuff is done. Low miles. Great colors.

To sell it? It really depends on how fast you need to sell. Your car could go over 15k for the right person. I am sure a dealer would price it there.

I would place an ad at the top of your range and see what kind of response you get. I personally think lobster interiors are killer and love silver cars. If the buying world doesn't agree with me, you can drop your price.

Good luck,
Larry

by under the door seal, are we talking at the base of the B pillar? Simply "along" the top of the longitudinal. Many know that when you see a "dime" size hole its usually worse.

I agree with the roughly $10K range mentioned. no rust, lower miles makes it maybe $13-14K. Again the challenge is that mid years have been bashed since new. Luckily the '74 didn't have the emissions junk holding it back. Also a nice final R&P which wakes the car up compared to '75-77 models.

Sounds like you've put a bunch of money into it recently.. I wouldn't expect to get that back. $10-14K maybe? The remaining rust sounds like it should really stand out compared to how the rest of the car presents itself. Keep it if you can

I love 74s. They were basically a 73.5 in the G series format. Looks like a really nice car that was well maintained. Very nice 74s bring very good money so take your time and do your research. I saw a low mileage gulf blue go in the high 30s and I believe a red (CurtissA) was sold here last year for $27,000 + into Europe. Both were primo cars!

Thanks for the feedback gents. It helps.

I plan on taking photos of the underside as well. I agree a dime-size hole is the tip of the iceberg but I can't find much rust beyond that and I've held or seen every part of this car. And that hole is on the aft door sill covered by the door seal.

Macroni, I agree the G-series is great car. The suspension/drivetrain is a great set up. The only detractor, some would say, is the CIS. The SC cams really broaden the power range though.

Thanks for the inputs.

Totally agree and you can really throw the 75's in there as well. Literally the same from a 49 state car perspective. I remember that Gulf Blue car (didn't know it sold). There was another Gulf Blue 75 that sold for a very good number here not too long ago. I rode in that red 74 to which you refer well set up, *****in' car. I won't reveal the final $$ here, but it was not quite that high. Strong nonetheless for a top notch, rust free low mileage 74 and well worth it IMO. Finding really nice mid year cars is getting extremely hard and good ones should go for strong numbers. I wouldn't let my car go for cheap. I'm just sayin'...
