1975 911 vin?

Greetings to all. I am new to this forum but a Porsche owner since 1973. My favorite cars are 914-6's (no offense to the 911). I have owned two of the sixes and may be buying another in the future. I have been a 914World.com member for a while under the same name.

I have a friend (really) who has a '75 911 she is considering selling. She knows nothing about the car as it was her husband's. It has been parked in her garage for about 2 years without being touched. The car comes with a folder full of receipts which include an engine rebuild in 1988. The car is actually pretty clean and seems to be all there.

Can anyone tell me specifics about the vin 9115201273? It is apparently a wide body conversion as it looks just like a 930. It is guards red with tan interior. It has about 66K on the speedometer. The conversion, if it did not come factory as a wide body, appears to be well done. I just do not know if the factory did wide body cars in 1975 (I do not think they did). She does not know if it is an S or a T. I have owned 911's but they were later models so I do not know much about this year model.

Here is a picture; I have about 59 more. Can anyone who is informed give me some ideas what it may be worth?

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Great; thanks for the information. At least that is good news. Now I just need some educated guesses as to approximate value.

The buyer will be someone that doesn't care if its factory correct.
Value is extremley difficult. The car has been sitting to two years, for a Porsche that isn't good. Is the conversion steel or glass? What type of engine? Many variables. Is that a turn signal on the side of the fender?
If it were my car I would see what it costs to buy a SC coupe and go down from there.

Steel flares and they appear to have been done correctly. It looks to be a stock engine and may actually have 165K miles on the car. I will try to post some additional pictures. The car is in Livermore, CA.

Looks very nice.. the 2.7 may be an issue as well.. even if original to the car, they are not too powerful, especially when asked to push such wide wheels.. I would also be curious about any specific upgrades.. suspension, brakes etc. Mirrors (outside) have been changed out. Sunroof? non-sunroof? Could be a nice starting point for a 3.6 conversion

Value? $10-15K maybe in today's market?

Nice looking! My buddy has a hot 3.0 twin plug that would look fierce tuck into that motor bay.

non-sunroof car. I have no idea what upgrades, if any, were done to the engine when it was rebuilt. When I first spoke with her she thought it had 300 HP. I do not believe for a minute it has 300 HP; maybe 200? I do not know what a 2.7 was stock but that would be my assumption and if it turned out to be more, then good news.

I am going to talk to the owner and see if she would like to me to actually list it for sale on here and then I will also post all of the pictures I have. The car's prior owner was in San Mateo County so it sounds like it is a CA car.

might already have a 3.0, I see a red shroud
that 75 2.7 would have a green shroud I believe.
find the engine number and engine type located vertically to the right of the fan

Thanks for the tip. You are right about the red shroud. I will have to ask her to take a look and send me the engine number to confirm that.

She has given me the "go ahead" to list the car for sale for her. Once I get the engine number I will list the car with all 60 pictures I have as well as her e-mail address.

This is really going to be a good car for someone who has some mechanical ability and enjoys playing in the garage.

I think the car is pretty damn clean and done correctly with the exception of the after-market side mirrors and a funky muffler/exhaust pipes which resemble a VW bug's exhaust coming out the rear of the car. Apparently the owner's brother thought that would be cool so he cut off the single left side exit and welded it shut and added the two pipes coming out the rear. I cringed when I saw that!
