1986 930 production

Any input to as where I can find production numbers for my 86 930 would be appreciated. I am considering applying for collector plates.

Are collector plates based on TOTAL production? or, in your case, Canadian consumption? in the states, it "collector, antique, vintage, classic" etc are based on age, and not necessarily production runs.

Collector plates are available under a few different scenarios from my understanding.A 15 year old limited edition(hopefully mine)vehicle would qualify.Criteria is bone stock but there is a modified class as well. Also classes for 20,25 & 50 years.Only the insurance company knows for sure. Will fill out the required form, submit with required glossy prints and wait for a decision.Quoting the number of 911's as opposed to the number of 930's produced in 1986 can't hurt.

Are you trying to apply for just the collector plates or a different class? I've done this successfully for my 78 Alfa Romeo Spider and my 73 Vespa 90 meeting the 25+ year criteria alone.

Collector plates is the goal in mind as I would like the lower insurance rate considering that I only put 2000-3000 miles on the car per year.Won't qualify for the 25 year requirement until 2011.

Ah. I understand exactly how you feel.

The vehicle being 25 years of age should qualify alone unless your insurance agent spoke to the special vehicles department. (There is a specific group of 5 or 6 people who specialize in doing this task alone.)

I would first complete the administrative legwork on your end. The photos do not have to be spectacular. Just grab your point and shoot, take the photos ICBC asks for, and have them printed 4x6 at London Drugs. I did that and got both my collectors and if there is an issue (i.e. poor photo quality etc.) ICBC will simply send you a letter asking you for what they need. Give it a week or two and *poof!* - Collector's Plates and insurance.

In the unfortunate event that ICBC rejects your application, I guess the only other option is to meet the criteria for "limited production." Good luck

"F Program" (August '84-July '85) VIN WPOJAO93CFS050001-0085 = 85 cars
"G Program" (August '85-July '86) VIN WPOJBO93CGS050001-0088 = 88 cars

These are numbers for Turbo production for Canada. Check your VIN and you'll see which set yours fits into.

Yes, you should have. Makes a big difference. My book is at home but IIRC US production was over 1,000 units.

To quote ICBC | Collector vehicles

Quote:
To qualify, your vehicle must be

at least 25 years old, or
a limited-production model (1,500 or fewer manufactured that model year), or
at least 15 years old, with no vehicles of any kind built by its manufacturer for at least five years.
