914
Trying to estimate the value of two 914s.
1970 914-6 , fiberglass GT flares/BBS wheels, use mainly for track but street legal. Currently has 3.0 SC engine rebuilt but developed significant oil leak, unknown source. Builder suggested oil return tube. Orig engine included but would require rebuild(seized up). Car is rust free and pretty straight. 1971 914-4 w/ 2.7 six out of a 75 911, fiber glass GT flares, Fuchs. I'm told it drives very well. Needs driver interior door panel and detailing. Had hell hole rust repair, otherwise solid. I'm helping the widow of a good friend with this. I realize this is difficult w/ lots of unknowns. Any help would be greatly appreciated photos to come chris j |

1970 original 6 is worth far more both now and in the future
number matching original motor is a big plus even out of the car other car is just a hot-rod swap worth about 1/2 a original 914-6 or less |

I agree with those points.
I've seen Pristine examples of original 914/6, stock etc w/ asking prices in the 35-50K range. This car could be a nice play car. To return it to stock appearance would be expensive, especially returning it to it's original color. Unknown $ to get the 3.0 engine operational and then all unexpected details. I would guess you could spend 25K or more very quickly. The other thing is that this was mainly a track car. Always driven hard. That may impact it's value as well. As it sits I think it will appeal to a select group of buyers. I'm struggling with coming up with a price suggestion for the owner. As for the 914 w/ transplanted six, I would think it's worth a little less than a similar appearing 4 cylinder. To me the six adds nothing except expensive repairs given that it was a used engine. I'm going try to find some info on compression/ leak down etc. |

The original one $25k ish as its modded a lot.
The conversion $10k ish as it just parts value. If the owner actually wants to sell them ebay no reserve is always the best way to find out the true value. GLWTS's ![]() Last edited by Milesaway; 06-11-2012 at 05:40 PM.. |

More pics and specs are always nice.
Share similar info on the 914 threads or specific 914 boards (like world or club.. its been a while). IMHO, the value of the "6" is that its a six from the factory. Depending on needed engine work, $15-25K could be possible. Imho, asking more than 25K it would need to be in excellent condition or factory original The "4" is likely a $8-15K car again, depending on needs and buyers goal, so a 10K rough estimate would seem fair.
