94 964 C2 Values
Hello All,
I am currently looking at a 94 964 C2, Blue/Tan, 95k miles, just had 90k service and has maintenance history. No previous accidents recorded and paint is original. Very nice and clean interior, all gauges and electrics are operable. She has been very well taken care of but I haven't spent for a PPI just yet to see what she's like under her skirt. Asking price is $27.9K Just trying to get a better idea of value and was hoping you would muck in. Thanks in advance for everyones help ! |
964 from 94.....if it checks out.......BUY IT!

a nice 94 964?
that is a good price. |
For a clean, last-year 964 with records, especially in that color combo, the asking price seems very fair. Had I seen one like this when I was looking 6 months ago . . . Good luck!

Often overlooked is the fact that a new 1994 964 Carrera cost $5k more than a new 1995 993 Carrera.
You'll appreciate the 964 and its strong Porsche DNA. |

Am I the only one who thinks that price is a bit high? A similar G50 Carrera (87-89) would go for much less, say low 20's. Are 964's suddenly increasing and I missed it? Were it a 94 C4 it would be a completely different scenario.

The 964 is mechanically pretty much the same as a 993, but with transitional styling. |

Nice 964s have gone up ..... If the buyer wants it they will pay. Service and mods are quite reasonable in comparison to a 993..... Much more modern than a carrera or SC. I would love to find a low mileage 94 targa.... Less than 200 produced......

I was contacted by the PO of the said 964 and was briefed on the car and what he sold her for earlier this year. It was extremely kind of him to reach out to me and I am very grateful for that. Fantastic site with some top notch humans !
Now back to my pint :) Cheers ! |
The 964 is superior to earlier cars. Period.
Anyone that says otherwise hasn't driven a 964. The prices will climb. They already have in Europe. This is a fair price, if the car is nice. |

Both are heavier than the 3.2 cars that preceded them. One can prefer the 964 or the 3.2, but there's no definitive "better" here. Also: recall that from the first 3.6s in '89 through mid-91, Porsche experimented with a design eliminating the head gasket. This was not wholly successful and depressed the values of 964s -- especially early ones. |
Yes, 964s are on the rise. I've got a '90 C2 Cab with 35k miles and I listed her on the PCA website as well as Craigslist for $31k. Within 3 days I've have numerous calls and emails and I've had 3 folks come inspect her. I've been offered $29k, $29.5k and $30k. I'm now wondering if I should sell her or just keep her and see what happens in a year or two.

I'm keeping my 964... there time is arriving. Last handbuilt, classic styling, modern driving porsche. They've been keepers, just now being noticed.

I'm going to print this thread out and show it to my wife. Paid $17K for my 964 5 years ago. Had 107K, very clean, original, straight and with all the records from new. Now it has 140K miles, runs like a clock and gets lots of compliments wherever I go. I knew back then these cars were undervalued for all that you were getting. Too bad I didn't jump on the 3.2's when they were cheaper. btw, no intention of selling her either...she only has 248 horsepower, but always brings a smile to my face.

urseppos,
feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to let you know what I've spent/found thus far on my '93 which I've had for 2+ years. Note, I cannot comment on the '94MY specifically as mine is a '93. Nor can I comment on C4/AWD as mine is a C2. |
