993 TT RUF copy...

I find the story of this car very strange. The carfax should be interesting - my guess is that the "conversion" was done after an accident.

Why else use so much money to turn a valuable car in to something of less value!?

1998 RUF Turbo R (993TT)

it's an interesting car. Price is a little high for a conversion (110K) but low miles. I'm not a big fan of the black wheels. The 2WD thing is very cool.

I don't think he made it less valuable at all. It's RWD while the stock 993TT was AWD and he says nothing of converting it to RWD. So... I would assume that he started with a Carrera and converted it to the TT, thus increasing the value.

I personally own a '03 C4S with full TechArt body kit and suspension, an '00 Boxster S with full Gemballa body kit and JRZ suspension, and a '72 914 with Chalon body kit. None of my cars have ever been in an accident. So why then take a perfectly good car (as this fellow did with a 993) and modify it so much? Answer - it's fun! So I wouldn't be suspicious of this fellow. He appears to be giving full disclosure. It just seems that the previous owner was not satisfied with what Porsche provided from the factory and decided to take it further with the help of Ruf. This guy, the current owner, seems to have appreciated that since he bought the car and has continued to take it further still. Obviously the buyer he is looking for is not a purist, but someone who can appreciate a nicely modified car.

I believe the car started out as a C2S wide body, hence the 2wd.

I doubt seriously that this car has ever been anything but an original 993 TT ,yes he states
that there has been considerable engine and suspension as well as body work...that's what's
involved when upgrading to a tuner spec vehicle.
This being a RUF conversion simply means it did not start out with those tuner mods and was
recreated so to speak to these specifications.
Removing the front wheel drive simply is in line with the factory as this is how the all out balls
to the wall racer GT2 was spec'd.
Weight saving and a completely different handling machine...ask me how I know!
Also to suggest the car was wrecked pre conversion is just ridiculous speculation ,the car has
Kilometer speedo obviously it was done by RUF in Germany
A conversion of this magnitude is not considered a copy ,it's a RUF Turbo R conversion, now the same as a RUF vin'd chassis
,IMO this thing is the nuts wish I had some extra coin lying around it would be in my garage...Bert

Let me help....

Happy I came across this thread, was sent along by another forum member that found it.

I am the owner....and open to answer any questions...
The car is a real RUF Turbo R Conversion, documented at RUF Germany.... the accident was in mid 2007 (Oct 1st at 2:12 pm to be exact) well after the RUF Turbo R conversion.... so no, the convserion was in no means done to cover up a bad accident. (Conversion done in 2001) The accident was not front or rear, no airbag deployed and minor rub along the car next to it so only rear fender damage and rear wheel as tire in rear came off the rim likely do to a flat . (I have the police report) ...

I am a full discloser seller here, and we all know Porsche owners dig deep when looking into cars so not hiding anything. The title is clean, in hand, car fax great accept this one accident. The car says three owners before me but really two as one owner (the one that did the RUF conversion...) leased the car 1st through his company and then he bought it so it counts him twice...(he is available to talk)

The car started life as a 1998 wide body s.... which IMO makes it a bit more rare...RWD car as all S's are. The stock motor was not tuned or converted or Turbos added...instead RUF documentation (and I have RUF reciepts confirming the same) shows a Motor was sent from RUF with the techs to do the conversion.

Hope that clarifies some of the questions around my RUF...... In all honesty I can't blame the comments and questions as its a rare car... Low miles and great color combo and lots of RUF parts...if carfax was 100% clean as a whistle this car would be selling for a lot more IMO. The season where I live in Newport RI is about ending so will flex on price for the right buyer.... It will be in Dupont registry next month...

Thanks all!

Love this car. Only two things I would change are the side skirts and the seats. Hopefully you find a buyer soon.

Awesome looking car, I'd buy this in a second if it wouldn't result in a divorce =)

**Divorce b/c this is too expensive for my wallet, not b/c wife doesn't support my car fetish.
