High Mileage Coupe value

Found a car in the south; 87 coupe, white/black, sport seats, 190k. Engine and G50 completely rebuilt a dozen years ago by a very reputable and competent Porsche specialist, with 70k since. Single respray that looks good! 7 and 8's, original. Some records available.

Car drives well and looks good. Need to do a carfax. Assuming a positive and thorough PPI, what is the collective wisdom on value in this market?

Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas!

Nick

Around 25k give or take assuming it is in good working order and the rebuilds check out.

Send me pm if you want me to look at pics.

I don't know but it sounds like a great car to put into fair weather daily driver service.

I think Christian is in the ballpark. If you can get it for less, bonus.

If everything works, 25K sounds fair for both sides.

I would have guessed a bit higher than $25K... Probably low $30Ks. If you can get for anything starting with a 2, I think it would be a great deal.

Sounds like a nice car. Good luck!

I have 130k on my 89 carrera. I have done a top end and lots of other bits. Just redoing the AC was close to 2k. I think the ppi will determine the value. Let us know what you find.

+1
Miles mean nothing if its a solid un-messed with 3.2
They are not easy to find.

Good luck with PPI

How come the car value web sites like NADA and Hagerty do not show these high prices on the mid 80's cars? A nice 87 in original condition should still be around $26,000. If I was looking for a 911 I would use those figures.

Then you would not get one.

In the real world, these are at least low- to mid-30s cars, no matter what anyone's buyers guides say.

The guides are always months behind reality. In a dynamic market they can be very far off the mark.

I tried to buy a 1984 coupe with 190k on it about a year ago. 25k wouldn't get the deal done. This car has a glass out restoration about eight years ago. It's really hasn't been driven since. Some oil leaks. Rare color combo. I'm thinking high 20s -low 30s if rebuild checks out.

I bought a 82 coupe with low miles last year in the twenties, but the car had been sitting for a while. Put about 3000 into it right away just to drive it. This year will probably be another 3k to make it nice. No such thing as a cheap 911 anymore. I looked for about 2 years.

I do not think the high miles really hurt the value much... these cars get to a certain age and many of their components will need to be replaced or rebuilt, as long as the car is kept up the milage should not hurt the value. the market is very hot right now, I think $30k.

The great and powerful Oz, err, techweenie, has is right. You can get SCs in the 20s. 3.2s are now in the 30s.

Seriously? My '84 has 163k on it. About 60% original paint, 50k on the top end, 15k on the transmission. Uncommon color inside and out (Chiffon with brown/ivory inside), nice leather, dash not cracked. Everything works, A/C converted to R134a. History from new, incl. window sticker. H4s, re-anodized 16" Fuchs, limited slip, etc.

Is this really a $30k or higher car in today's market? Has it gone up that much in the 3 years since I bought it? Not that I'm looking to sell it, but I may need to bump the insurance value.
